I grew up in an environment of formalistic Islam. I learned to cross all my t’s and dot all my i’s. This gave me security and meaning in my teenage years when one is usually seeking these things in one form or another. My faith sustained me through some pretty crucial periods of my life.

Yet, I felt something was missing. I remember, reading about Sufi mystics and their states of ecstasy and love for God, and thinking,

“If I’m doing everything right, how come I don’t feel what they’re feeling?” And then one day as i sat on my prayer mat, for the first time I found the courage to confess to God.

I said, “You know God, I don’t love You. I fear You. Can You teach me how to love You? Can I be audacious and ask You to make me a gnostic? A knower?” I wanted to erase all my mental files by pressing the reboot button. But I didn’t know how to. And I knew I couldn’t do it without His help. They say, “When you ask, it is given.” And just like that in no time, from Pakistan I moved to Canada and here i stumbled upon the Sufi path.

I soon realized that while before I believed in God, this path helped me taste Him. It gave me the tools to discover the egoic aspects of myself that at one point made me cringe and think, Who am I?

You begin to see the invisible mesh you’ve weaved around yourself that is unconsciously suffocating you. And then you start unraveling it, one thread at a time, and sometimes if you’re lucky one entire section at a time. There is a saying which I love very much, that “When you have a choice between being right and being kind, choose kindness.”

This path showed me how to choose kindness; how to act from love, and what true
freedom really is. I’m just humbled and grateful to be on this path.

I’m writing to share my experience with Dr. Ibrahim Jaffe’s spiritual healing practice. In my case, I was working to heal a traumatic series of events that occurred when I was a young child—so traumatic that I blocked them for over 50 years. Recently, during an intense training with Ibrahim, we were asked to internally scan our bodies to sense if there were indications of our physically holding something that we might try to understand more deeply and begin a process of healing. During the experience, I immediately became aware of discomfort around the area of my left kidney. Then I felt a sharp pain on my right side near my liver.

I mentioned to Ibrahim that I sensed the left side discomfort, and the sudden intense pain on my right side. He said that the pain was about rage and told me to use the Quality Mutakabbir for healing. In addition to the Quality, Ibrahim provided all the workshop participants abundant amounts of healing energy at various times during the workshop.

I began repeating Mutakabbir at least 100 times each day.

Over the next 4 months, on 6 different occasions, I passed a kidney stone. 3 of the stones were large, i.e. about 3 eights of an inch, and 3 were small. In each case, the stone was passed effortlessly and painlessly.

In addition, prior to the workshop I had had an MRI which showed a small arachnoid cyst in the left hemisphere of my brain. Four months later an MRI revealed no indication remaining of the arachnoid cyst.
